word had never given me happiness and relief. But the year 2020 has completely changed my aspect of thinking and teaches me how to survive with minimum essential things and without your supporting staff. But this is not only with me but I think everyone all around the world learns these things. Everyone is talking about COVID19 and its pandemic. The whole world is suffering from this worst flu to date. I do not know it is correct to say China is responsible for this pandemic. But the world economy is crushed and all industry is facing heat of it. The government body is trying to provide all kinds of support to industry and poor people. But I think middle-class people are more suffering from this pandemic.

Protecting myself #

21 Mar 2020, our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi made an announcement of complete lockdown for 40 days. Life looks like it took a pause and we have no idea what to do next. The first thing that came to mind is to arrange daily essential things and groceries. I checked in the kitchen, we have groceries for a month. Even kid’s essential things are also there for a week. I know this news makes people panic and there will be a huge rush in stores. Later on, I order everything from online stores and avoided going to the store.

I informed my supporting staff to take leave for 40. Even all office staff and interns were informed to stay in their homes. To avoid any physical contact with any person, I and my wife used to go temple at 6:00 AM when the temple open. We buy our daily essentials while returning from the temple as there very few people in the store. I spent my days with kids and cooking, as there was no supporting staff.

I have two kids and they have daily needs such as milk, diaper, and snacks. I rushed to the nearest store to purchase it.

COVID Infection #

After lockdown, things are getting normal and few people start traveling for their work. But I have moved all my work on cloud-based, so I do not have to travel. I allowed one nanny to come and take care of our kids. Kids are not allowed to go to the play area and stay within the house.

I went to my selected grocery store to order groceries. They used to deliver ordered goods to our homes. These people are dealing with multiple people day in and day out. Later on, I came to know that one of their staff is infected from COVID, and they have to close their store.

One family on our floor went to attend some family functions. I meet with them in the parking lot and even help them in shifting their luggage to lift. Later on the same evening, I was shocked to know that they got infected from COVID and they complained regarding their poor health. I become the primary contact of COVID infected people. Our apartment society people informed Govt. They sealed our floor and gave strict instructions not to make any contact with any person. I did not get any physical contact with them, so I cannot say exactly when and how I got infected. I always wear my mask and maintain social distance while going out. But I also got infected with mild corona symptoms.

I had a mild symptom, loss of smell, and taste with little high fever. The fever lasted for 12 days unbroken and taste and smell came 15 days. I did not have a cough or shortness of breath. So I selected to isolate at home and recovered.

We informed our family members and friends. Everyone is worried about us as I have two kids below age 10. But with God’s grace, I was able to overcome it.

The COVID Test #

I was very much sure that I am not infected by COVID because I was taking proper protective measures while going out and not in contact with any new person. But when one family from our floor got infected and we all have to undergo the test. I felt nervous and anxious while waiting for my term. I got the test result after 12 hours and it came positive. But my other family members were tested negative.

As I kept myself home quarantine, my family supported me a lot. They used to keep taking care of my needs. I asked them to give everything to me in disposal material so that they should not worry to collect from me. Sometimes I felt week and exhausted and I used to sleep a lot. My mother-in-law is a doctor, so she used to talk to me every day. assigned doctor also used to call me on alternate days. They have given me an emergency number as well so that in case I felt uncomfortable in taking a breath.

Even everyone in my family has to take it. I also used to take a Multi-Vitamin tablet that was prescribed by my doctor. I used to keep track of my oxygen level also.

I joined online yoga sessions which help in my recovery; motivated me that I will be ok. I used to avoid watching the news which always talks about COVID and its counts. I do not like reading books but during my COVID days, it was my companion. I avoid laptop or TV because it gives more stress to us. I got a lot of time to spend on myself so I started exploring my likes and hobbies.

Some of my friends, who got tested positive, decided to get admitted to the hospital. I used to call them to know their status. All Hospital does not have enough staff to take care of all patients, so there is a delay in getting service. They did not get food on time and they feel lonely. Doctors come only in the morning for a checkup. You can feel losing of life which makes you weaker. I feel recovery from Hospital is more difficult compare to recovery from home.

Post Recovery #

Once my test result came negative, I feel stress-free, happy but weak. I continue my daily routine for another week. I met with a dietician and Gym instructor to get advice for getting my strength and improve my immunity. I have weak eyesight and during COVID days it became weaker. My family doctor suggests me to work on a diet I will regain my previous eyesight. COVID will indeed make you weak physically but it will improve your mental strength and will power. You will understand your family values and the importance of your own life. I used to think about how my family would live life without me.

No doubt COVID19 is the world’s worst flu and recovery needs strong mental health and family support. I was lucky that my symptoms were few and weak. This is a myth that if a person is tested positive, they need to get admitted to a hospital for treatment. From my experience, and that of friends and family members who tested positive, the answer to this is that it depends on one’s symptoms and their past & present health condition.

I started taking care of myself more and avoid going out as much as possible I can do. Prevention is better than cure that I learned from COVID. Many things around us came from China and were made in China. I tried to stop using or buying Chinese goods. I do not hate China but even I do not like Chinese products. This is because somehow I think China is more responsible for this pandemic that the whole world is going through.

I do not go out frequently but in case I have to go I use a mask, gloves and keep sanitizer with me. Once I come back I take a warm water bath and put all my clothes in hot water for cleaning. All these things are not required but I do not want my family to get infected from it. education suffers more during these periods and they engaged more on cartons and YouTube. One more thing I would like to add last that I need to rework my finance and medical expenses. If you have the health you can make your wealth.

I think after my healthy recovery from COVID, I can give you the best suggestion on how to come out of this pandemic.

Your safety is most important for you and your family.

A positive attitude and survival instinct will help you to recover.

Do not get panic if someone gets infected near you or your family member. They can be recovered and they need your support.

Hospitalization is not mandatory for everyone, it depends upon individual health condition.

Work on building immunity, do Yoga, and take a healthy diet, avoid junk food and outside food.
