Privacy Policy

This policy explains what vinpatel.com collects, why, and how to get it removed. It’s short because the Site collects very little.

The Short Version

• No advertising cookies. No ad networks. No remarketing.
• Analytics are anonymous — no personal data, no profiles. Umami is cookieless; Google Analytics 4 uses first-party session cookies.
• If you subscribe to the newsletter, I store your email address and nothing else about you.
• I never sell, rent, or trade your data.
• You can unsubscribe and have your email deleted at any time.

1. Analytics

The Site uses two complementary analytics tools. Neither is linked to your email address if you’re a subscriber.

Umami Cloud is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information. See umami.is for their practices.

Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-VZDC98YQRG) records the same page views and custom events (subscribe, outbound clicks, CTA engagement). GA4 uses first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish sessions. It is not used for advertising, remarketing, or ad personalization. See Google’s analytics privacy and GA4 data practices.

What they record, in aggregate:

• Pages viewed and referring site
• Country (derived, not precise location)
• Browser, operating system, device type
• Anonymous events such as “someone clicked subscribe”

None of this identifies you. You can block either script with any content blocker without affecting the Site.

2. Newsletter Subscribers

If you subscribe to Dispatch, I collect:

• Your email address — required to send you the newsletter
• The source that referred you (e.g. a utm_source value or referral code) — to understand which channels work

Subscriber data is stored with Resend, which sends the emails on my behalf and acts as a processor. Resend records standard delivery data such as whether an email was delivered and opened.

What I don’t do: sell or rent your address, share it with third parties for their marketing, or use it for anything other than sending the newsletter and related notices.

3. Referral Program

If you share a referral link, the Site stores a referral code and a count of how many people signed up through it. This is tied to a code, not to a name or profile, and is used only to attribute signups and award milestones.

4. Hosting and Logs

The Site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub processes technical request data — including IP addresses — to serve pages and protect against abuse. That processing is governed by GitHub’s Privacy Statement. I don’t have access to those raw logs.

5. Cookies

No advertising cookies. The Site does not use ad networks or remarketing pixels.

Google Analytics 4 sets first-party analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to count sessions. These are not used for ads or ad personalization.

Umami does not set cookies.

Your browser may store a local preference — such as light or dark theme — on your own device. That never leaves your browser and isn’t sent to me. A short-lived dispatch_ref cookie may be set if you arrive via a referral link, so a later signup can be attributed.

6. Third-Party Platforms

Articles are syndicated to third-party platforms including LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, Dev.to, and Hashnode. If you interact with content there, that platform’s privacy policy applies — not this one. I have no control over their data practices.

Outbound links may carry utm_ parameters so I can tell which channel a visit came from. They identify the channel, not you.

7. Your Rights

Whatever your jurisdiction, you can:

• Access the data I hold about you — which is your email address, if you’re subscribed
• Delete it — unsubscribe via any email footer or /unsubscribe/, which removes your address
• Correct it — reply to any newsletter email
• Object to processing — unsubscribing ends it entirely

If you’re in the EEA or UK, the legal basis for sending the newsletter is your consent, given when you subscribed, and withdrawable at any time.

8. Data Retention

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, then removed from the active list. Anonymous analytics are retained by Umami and Google Analytics under each processor’s retention policy.

9. Children

The Site isn’t directed at children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, email me and I’ll delete the record.

10. Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
